Generally term "vegetable" means an edible part of plant, definition of word is a traditional rather than the scientific, therefore usage of word is somewhat subjective and arbitrary, as it is described and determined by the individual customs of culture of food preparation and food selection. Mushrooms are belonging to biological kingdom Fungi, and not plant kingdom, yet they are generally considered to be the vegetables, in retail industry at least. Grains, seeds, nuts, spices, culinary fruits and herbs are not usually considered to be vegetables; even some of them are parts of the plants
